Why make the move to Windows 10?
There are many articles written with lists of new features and why yo might want to upgrade your PC to Windows 10 if you haven’t already. I’ve narrowed all these reasons down to the 4 that I feel are the most important for small business owners.
4 Reasons to Upgrade to Windows 10
- It’s faster. A lot faster. Upgrading to Windows 10 will add a noticeable performance boost to most PCs.
- It’s more secure. I won’t go into the nerdy details here, but Microsoft has increased security dramatically in Windows 10. It is much more difficult for a virus to infect a Windows 10 computer versus Windows 7 and 8.
- The Windows 7 ship is sinking. Microsoft will fully end support for Windows 7 on January 14 2020. This is just over a year and a half away. At that time, Microsoft security updates will cease and other companies like Google, Adobe and Apple will also stop supporting their software on Windows 7. If you need to adhere to HIPAA or PCI compliance rules, you must upgrade before this date.
- IT’S FREE! This should have been reason #1. Upgrading Windows 7 Pro to Windows 10 is free so long as your existing license is valid. It may not be free forever so best to work on this sooner than later.
